Nursing Scholarships

Scholarship Aid Year: 1011

The scholarships listed below are designated for students who have been accepted into the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains. Nursing students may also want to review and apply for other scholarships listed in the University Endowed Academic Scholarships and University Privately Funded Scholarship sections. By applying online, your application will be matched with the selection criteria for endowed, restricted, and some institutional scholarships. Because many of these scholarships may require letters of reference and/or essays, review the criteria for each scholarship and submit any additional paperwork to the Financial Aid Office. Scholarship criteria that include financial need requires that you file the FAFSA by March 31.

Crissy Bell Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Value:
Variable (contingent on available funding)
Criteria:
Award to a student enrolled in the Nursing Program at Missouri State University-West Plains with first priority consideration to a resident of Wright County. If no eligible applicants, consideration then be given to applicants from Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, or Texas County. Student should have achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher during his or her school career and have demonstrated involvement in community service documented with two letters of reference. Award will be made without regard for financial need. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA while receiving the scholarship.
Renewal:
Recipient may be considered for renewal but must reapply and have earned at least a 3.0 GPA or higher while receiving the scholarship.

Applicant must also submit to the Financial Aid Office two letters of recommendation from individuals who can reference the candidate's community commitment and involvement.

Gammill Family Foundation Scholarship for Nursing School

Value:
Multiple awards of $1,000 each (contingent on available funds)
Criteria:
Recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing Program at Missouri State University-West Plains. Award is based on financial need and academic credentials of the applicants. Preference to applicants who require some financial assistance but may not qualify for a federal or state grant. Applicant must be from the seven-county service area (Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas, or Wright Counties). Recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA during the payment of the scholarship.

Recipient must reapply to be considered for renewal.

Grace Putnam Good Citizen Nursing Scholarship

Approximately $300 (contingent on available funds)
Criteria:
Recipient must be a graduate of the South Central Area Vocational LPN School who is currently seeking an Associate of Science degree in Nursing at Missouri State University-West Plains. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have exhibited civic involvement and/or participated in events for individuals with special needs. Applicants from the Howell County area will be given first consideration, then applicants from Oregon, Shannon, Texas, Ozark, Wright or Douglas County. Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in their college program. Award will be made without regard to financial need.

J. E. 'Good' and Virginia 'Beanie' Hard Nursing Scholarship

Criteria:
Recipient must be a graduate of the South Central Area Vocational LPN School who is currently seeking an Associate of Science degree in Nursing at Missouri State University-West Plains. Recipient must have maintained an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in his or her college program. Awards are made without regard to financial need.

May Wheeler Memorial Scholarship

Approximately $500 (contingent on available funds)
Criteria:
Recipient must be a resident of Oregon County, accepted into the Missouri State University-West Plains nursing program, and a full-time student. Other selection factors include financial need, high school academic performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests, and leadership qualities.

Mike and Mary Jane Lybyer Endowed Scholarship

Value:
Approximately $500 (contingent on available funds)
Criteria:
Consideration will be given to high school performance (3.0 GPA or upper one-third of graduating class minimum), college potential as indicated by aptitude tests, and leadership qualities. Preference given to applicants from the seven counties served by Missouri State University-West Plains (Howell, Wright, Texas, Douglas, Ozark, Oregon and Shannon). Preferred vocational area of recipients is nursing. Award is made without regard to financial need.
Renewal:
May be renewed automatically as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.

Ralph F. and Louella Cox Endowed Scholarship

Value:
Approximately $600 (contingent on available funds)
Criteria:
Award to a student enrolled in the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains. Applicant must be a resident of Howell or Oregon County and must have graduated from a public high school. Recipient must have a 3.0 or higher GPA in all previous educational programs. Award will be made with regard to financial need with preference being given to an individual who requires some financial assistance but may not qualify for a federal or state grant. Application must include the names of two references who know the student well.

South Central Ozark Home Health Endowed Scholarship

Value:
Approximately $300 (contingent on available funds)
Criteria:
Recipient must be enrolled in the Missouri State University-West Plains nursing program and be from Texas, Oregon or Howell County. When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to financial need, high school performance and college potential as indicated by aptitude tests. Award will be made with regard to financial need and may be used for course fees, books and supplies. Must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester.
