Transfer Scholarships at Missouri State University-West Plains

There are several Missouri State University scholarships designated for transfer students. In addition, selected Missouri State University-West Plains scholarships (i.e., Board of Governors, Chancellor's Dean's and Leadership) offered by the West Plains campus may be transferred to the Springfield campus by students who meet the renewal criteria. Board of Governors Scholarship

$2,000 per year. Must be eligible for the Missouri State University-West Plains Freshman Board of Governors Scholarship upon entry to Missouri State University-West Plains and must meet Missouri State University-Springfield renewal criteria (complete 30 credit hours each year with a cumulative 3.50 GPA) upon transfer. Contact the Missouri State University-West Plains Financial Aid Office to apply. Must apply for admission to Missouri State University-Springfield by March 1.

Community College Scholarship

$2,000 per year. Must be a Missouri State University-West Plains student who has completed at least 30 hours at the community college with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Recipients are nominated by Missouri State University-West Plains Chancellor. Complete and submit the Missouri State University-West Plains Scholarship application by March 31. Continue The Tradition Fee Waiver Program

Student must be the child or grandchild of a Missouri State graduate and a non-resident entering transfer student. Apply for admission and submit the Continue the Tradition online application . While there is no application deadline, students are encouraged to apply early to be considered for scholarships which do have deadlines.

Diversity in Education Scholarship for Transfer Students

Student must transfer from a community college having completed either an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree or all requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program at MSU-Springfield. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher, have demonstrated leadership in multicultural activities through the schools and/or community, and have declared a major that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education or Bachelor of Music Education degree. Deadline: Summer/fall applicants must apply by March 1; spring applicants must apply by Oct. 1. Leadership Scholarship

$1,000 per year. Must be selected for the Missouri State University-West Plains Leadership Scholarship by high school superintendent during senior year of high school. Must meet Missouri State University-Springfield renewal criteria (complete 30 credit hours each year with a cumulative 3.25 GPA) upon transfer. Contact the Missouri State University-West Plains Financial Aid Office to apply. Must apply for admission to Missouri State University-Springfield by March 1.

Missouri State University Promise Scholarship

The Missouri State Promise Scholarship program is designed to help the neediest of Missouri’s students to complete a college degree. This innovative program provides students from households with incomes at or below 150% of the poverty level and who are Pell eligible with an institutional grant to supplement federal, state, institutional, and/or private grants and scholarships they may receive to ensure that the total gift aid will cover their tuition and fees and a standard book allowance. The grant is renewable for students who complete 24 or more credit hours in the academic year with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher and who continue to meet the need requirement. Students entering in summer or fall who submit a FAFSA by June 30 will automatically be considered. For students entering in the spring, the FAFSA must be filed by October 31. No special application is required. We encourage students to submit the FAFSA online. Out-Of-State Fee Waiver/Midwest Student Exchange Program

Non-resident entering transfer students who have completed at least 24 hours with a 3.25 cumulative grade point average. No special application required. Eligible students will be identified based on their application credentials. While there is no application deadline, students are encouraged to apply early to be considered for scholarships which do have deadlines. Qualified residents of Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota or Wisconsin will receive the Midwest Student Exchange Award; other qualified non-residents will receive the Out-of-State Fee Waiver.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

$2,000 per year. Recipient must be a current member of Phi Theta Kappa. Complete the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application and apply for admission by the deadline. Summer and fall applications must be submitted by March 1; spring applicants must apply by October 1. Documentation of membership from chapter advisor is required with application.

Provost Scholarship

$1,000. Must be eligible for the Missouri State University-West Plains Freshman Academic Scholarship upon entry to Missouri State University-West Plains and must meet Missouri State University-Springfield renewal criteria (complete 30 credit hours each year with a 3.40 GPA) upon transfer. Must apply for admission to Missouri State University-Springfield by January 15. Eligible students will be identified by their admission application credentials.

Transfer Academic Scholarship

$1,500 per year. Recipient must have completed at least 42 credit hours with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Summer and fall applicants must apply by March 1; spring applicants must apply by October 1.

Transfer STEM* Scholarship

Students must be community college transfers who have completed at least 42 transferable credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher, have completed college algebra or a higher level math with a B or higher, and major in a qualifying STEM major.
