Institutionally Funded Scholarships at Missouri State University-West Plains

Scholarships are limited in number and are issued on a competitive basis according to the criteria indicated. Decisions of the Missouri State University-West Plains Scholarship Committee are final. By applying online, your application will be matched with the selection criteria for endowed, restricted, and some institutional scholarships. Because many of these scholarships may require letters of reference and/or essays, review the criteria for each scholarship and submit any additional paperwork to the financial aid office.

Please Note: Home-schooled students, like traditionally-schooled students, will be considered for scholarships based on a combination of ACT scores and GPA.

Arkansas Tuition Scholarship

Value:
Equal to the out-of-state portion of required student fees, not to exceed a course load of 16 credit hours per semester in the fall and spring and 9 credit hours in the summer.

The number of scholarships awarded is contingent upon available funding.
Criteria:
1. Legal resident of the state of Arkansas and 2. Eligible for admission as a degree-seeking student.

Board of Governors Scholarship

Entering Freshmen must rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class or must have earned a 3.90 GPA on a 4.00 scale after the sixth or seventh semester, combined with a minimum ACT composite score of 28.
Renewal:
Complete 30 Missouri State-West Plains credit hours during the academic year with a 3.50 cumulative Missouri State-West Plains grade point average. (Transfer hours will not be considered.) SPECIAL NOTE:If a Board of Governors Scholarship recipient transfers to the Springfield campus, the scholarship may be continued. See "Transfer Scholarships to Missouri State University-Springfield."

Chancellor's Scholarship

This scholarship is not available to recipients of the Board of Governors Scholarship or the Chancellor's Scholarship.

Complete 30 Missouri State-West Plains credit hours during the academic year with a 3.30 cumulative Missouri State-West Plains grade point average. (Transfer hours will not be considered.) Applicant with highest GED/HiSET score will receive the award. Recipient may receive only one Board of Governors Scholarship.

Students are considered eligible for this scholarship if (their permanent address or high school enrollment) is outside of the seven county service area (Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas or Wright County), rank in the top 25% of their graduating class or have an ACT composite of 21 or higher.
Renewal:
Renewed for one year for students who complete 24 credit hours at Missouri State-West Plains during the first year with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

MSU-WP Promise Out of Area Scholarship

Renewed for one year for student who complete 24 credit hours at Missouri State University-West Plains during the first year with a cumulative Missouri State GPA of 2.75 or higher and continue to demonstrate financial need.

MSU-WP Promise Scholarship

Multicultural Leadership Scholarship

Criteria:
Entering and current students must rank either in the upper one-half of their class or have a 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 and have demonstrated leadership in multicultural school or community activities or organizations. This scholarship is not available to recipients of the Board of Governors Scholarship.
Renewal:
Students who complete 30 Missouri State-West Plains credit hours during the academic year with a 2.75 cumulative Missouri State-West Plains grade point average. (Transfer hours will not be considered). Applicants must apply by the deadline.

Contact the Financial Aid Office for a separate scholarship application which includes submission of a 1 - 3 page essay describing your qualifications for the scholarship.

Student Ambassador Book Scholarship

Value:
Full rental cost of books for each semester the student is chosen as a Student Ambassador.
Criteria:
Entering freshmen must have an ACT composite score of 20 or above. Current students must have a cumulative 2.50 GPA, and all students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours at Missouri State University-West Plains.
Job Duties:
Student Ambassadors will serve as the student public relations team of the University, promoting Missouri State University-West Plains in many ways such as conducting campus tours, assisting in high school visits, and serving as hosts for University-sponsored activities.
Renewal:
May be considered for renewal if the student reapplies by the deadline.
Application:
Complete the Missouri State University-West Plains scholarship application and submit it by the priority deadline. An additional application packet will be sent after determining eligibility. Contact the admissions office in Cass Hall for additional information.

Student Government Association Executive Officer Scholarship Mountain Grove

Awarded to the elected officers of Mountain Grove Student Government Association: President $270, Vice President- $225
Criteria:
President and Vice President must be elected, meet the officer requirements listed in the SGA constitution, and be enrolled in at least six or more credit hours (part-time).

Student Government Association Executive Officer Scholarship West Plains

Value:
Awarded to the elected officers of the Student Government Association: President - $2,700; Vice President - $2,250; Presidential Cabinet Members - $200.
Criteria:
President and Vice President must be elected, meet the officer requirements listed in the SGA constitution, and be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours (full-time).
